A giant crocodile weighing 1075 kilograms has been arrested in the Philippines. Australian newspaper, Sydney Morning Herald, Tuesday (09/06/2011) reported that the crocodile was 6.4 meters long and has a resident and breeder crocodiles captured in a river in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur province, southern Philippines on Saturday night.
Mayor Bunawan, Cox Elorde said Monday, dozens of male crocodile was captured after three weeks on the hunt. "We were scared but it is our aim to safeguard the villagers from threats," said Elorde told AFP by telephone.
"When I stood in front of the crocodile, I could not believe what I see," he added. Local newspaper, Sun Star, reported that at least 90 people were deployed to attract fresh-water crocodile that weighs 1075 kilograms of river. Crocodile is one of the giant crocodile captured in the Philippines within the next few years.
Elorde crocodile hoping it will be a center of attraction in a park ecotourism are being planned. "Crocodiles will become the park's biggest star," he said. He added, he would be happy if it succeeded in transforming the crocodile "from a threat into an asset".
